What is the Warm Homes Local Grant?

The Warm Homes Local Grant (WH:LG) is the grant-funded arm of the government's Warm Homes Plan. Eligible households can receive up to £30,000 of fully funded home energy upgrades — no upfront cost, no repayment. It covers insulation, solar panels, air source heat pumps, battery storage and heating controls.

In Lancashire, the grant is administered by Cosy Homes in Lancashire (CHIL), a council-backed delivery body operating across all Lancashire districts.

Who qualifies in Lancashire?

  • Gross household income at or below £36,000 — no documentation needed; you self-declare
  • EPC rating of D, E, F or G (check yours free at epcregister.com)
  • Owner-occupier or private tenant (with landlord's permission)
  • Property in Lancashire — eligible postcodes include BB, BL, FY, LA, PR

No paperwork required

In Lancashire, no income paperwork is required. You declare your income at the time of application. If you're in the right ballpark, apply — the survey will confirm everything.

How the WH:LG works in Lancashire

Step 1 — Application

You apply through Cosy Homes in Lancashire at chil.uk.com, or contact Alliant Energy directly and we'll handle the referral on your behalf.

Step 2 — Home survey

Once your eligibility is confirmed, a free survey is arranged, typically within five working days. A qualified assessor visits to check insulation, heating and EPC rating.

Step 3 — Funding confirmation

Cosy Homes issues a written offer confirming the measures covered and the grant value — up to £30,000. You don't pay anything.

Step 4 — Installation

An MCS-certified and TrustMark-registered installer is appointed. Alliant Energy is both — we install solar PV, heat pumps, batteries and insulation across Lancashire.

Step 5 — Post-installation

You receive MCS Certificates, warranty documentation and aftercare support. Your EPC is reassessed.
